NICHOLAS GEUTTERMAN

PIANO

Nicholas Guetterman is a rising 21st century American pianist currently based in Chicago, where he is passionate about making music accessible and inclusive for all audiences.  His performances encompass a seemingly infinite range of musical styles in solo and ensemble settings across the United States.  Nicholas was named a “Classical All-Star” in 2017 and received an Honorable Mention award in the 2018 Steinway Regional Competition in St. Louis, Missouri. Recent masterclass appearances include performances for internationally acclaimed pianists Roberto Prosseda, Vladimir Feltsman, and others.  Other notable appearances include the Green Lake Chamber Music Festival in Green Lake, Wisconsin.  In the fall of 2022, Nicholas had the privilege of performing at an event for the Obama Foundation, where he was able to perform for and meet the former president.  Nicholas looks forward to summer 2023 appearances at the Montecito International Music Festival in California and the Villa Sandra Piano Academy in Italy.         

​Nicholas began to play the piano by listening and copying what his mother played when he was at the age of four.  Growing up, he was a multi-instrumentalist.  He played flute, clarinet, saxophone, percussion, and violin.  In high school, he participated in the Webster University College Preparatory chamber music program in St. Louis, Missouri.  Since moving to Chicago in 2017, Nicholas has built his teaching studio, which encompasses students from all backgrounds and circumstances.  He is also a part of Sing Out Loud Seniors, an organization which brings engaging and interactive performances to senior living homes across the city of Chicago.  He has received both a bachelors and master’s degree in piano performance at DePaul University School of Music in Chicago where he was awarded a substantial scholarship and studied with internationally acclaimed pianist, George Vatchnadze.
